About the film

In the tense 72 hours before D-Day, and the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, PRESSURE follows General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Captain James Stagg as they face an impossible choice—launch the largest and most dangerous invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether.

.

General Dwight D Eisenhower is preparing to give the go-ahead for the D-Day landings at Normandy on June 5, 1944 and famed Scottish meteorologist Group Captain James Stagg is summoned to Allied headquarters at Southwick House to provide his expert analysis of the weather conditions for the chosen date. American meteorologist Colonel Irving P Krick is convinced June 5 will be a sunny day but Stagg's data strongly suggests stormy weather and he advises Eisenhower to call off the operation.

Produced by the team responsible for Darkest Hour, Pressure elegantly condenses David Haig’s 2014 stage play into a masterful dramatisation of stiff upper-lipped resolve that whitens knuckles because history teaches us how pivotal events on the Normandy beaches were to Allied fortunes.

The film stars Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Kerry Condon, Chris Messina, Damian Lewis, Tamsin Topolski, Jojo Macari, Con O'Neill, Henry Ashton, Daniel Quinn-Toye

Led by a stellar Andrew Scott, Pressure is a conventional but compelling look at a little-known vignette from the theatre of World War II. Small, smart and perfectly formed. Empire
